AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs aimed at improving lives and fostering civic engagement. AmeriCorps places thousands of adults into intensive service positions where they learn valuable work skills, earn money for education, and develop an appreciation for citizenship.
AmeriCorps is a civil society program with a goal of "helping others and meeting critical needs in the community." The program is often seen as a domestic Peace Corps.
The Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida has AmeriCorps members who serve at five locations in Taylor County and one location in Lafayette County. AmeriCorps members
assist youth with academic based activities that will increases their knowledge and result in increase academic performance and school readiness.
